Schwabe is seeking a highly motivated Privacy, Standards and Commercial Contracts Associate to join its Portland, Seattle, or Mt. View office. Requirements of the position include:

  • 3+ years of experience in the following areas:

    • advising clients on their obligations under information privacy laws

    • advising on e-mail marketing and online advertising and matters relating to cloud storage

    • preparing privacy policies for websites and mobile applications

    • negotiating contractual provisions allocating risk between clients and service providers related to personal data, trade secrets, and confidential information

    • advising on representations and warranties related to privacy and security in M&A transactions

    • advising on use of cookies, Google Analytics, and other common technologies in websites

    • assessing and advising on matters related to technology standards

    • drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and intellectual property agreements

 

  • Excellent academic credentials and professional references, as well as solid legal research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ownership of projects and willingness to work well in a team-oriented setting, but with significant independence.

  • Strong client service ethic.

  • Admission or eligibility for reciprocity to the Oregon State Bar, Washington State Bar, or California State Bar.
