Corporate Attorney (7+ years) – Vancouver or Seattle, WA

Schwabe currently has an opening in its Seattle or Vancouver, Washington office for a full-time corporate attorney to work in a thriving, diverse practice. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of seven years of corporate legal work experience
  • Experience supporting entity formation (private companies, limited liability companies, limited partnerships and joint ventures), M&A, securities, debt and equity financing, due diligence, commercial contracts, private placements, commercial contracts, credit agreements, and other similar corporate tasks
  • Effectively able to work on large M&A transactions as well as smaller transactions
  • Ability to manage complex transactions, including client-ready documents, client exposure, and interacting across offices and practice groups
  • Experience serving clients in at least one of our seven key industries, particularly within a law firm setting (preferred)
  • Strong entrepreneurial, growth, and client service mindset
  • Washington State Bar admission, or eligibility for reciprocity required
  • Some portable book of business plus demonstrated success in developing a client portfolio

Employment Law Attorney, 7+ Years (Portland, OR, Seattle or Vancouver, WA)

Schwabe currently has an opening for a full-time lawyer to help support the firm’s employment law practice. The preferred location for this opening is in Portland, Oregon, but individuals interested in Seattle or Vancouver, Washington will be considered. The ideal candidate will have:

 
  • 7+ years of employment law experience and understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Superior research, analytical and legal writing skills, as demonstrated in an employment law-related writing sample
  • Litigation experience, at least as a second chair, with duties such as motion drafting, discovery, depositions, and oral argument
  • Ability to handle with limited supervision BOLI and EEOC charges, investigations, and employee handbook and policy reviews
  • Experience with or interest in labor law is a plus
  • Strong work ethic and client service acumen, excellent academic credentials and professional references, as well as solid interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to train junior associates
  • Interest in one or more of Schwabe’s industry groups
  • Oregon or Washington State Bar admission or eligibility for reciprocity is required; being licensed in both states is preferred
  • Some portable book of business plus demonstrated success in developing a client portfolio

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 7+ years of related experience with environmental and natural resources
  • Knowledge and experience with state and federal laws related to environmental cleanup, air quality, fish and wildlife, hazardous wastes, water quality, removal/fill (wetlands), and water rights
  • Knowledge of and experience with Federal Indian Law

  • A minimum of five years of legal work experience in the areas of:
    • Wealth transfer strategies and advice, including drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and community-property agreements
    • Trust and probate administration and controversies
    • Charitable organization advice
    • Guardianships and conservatorships
  • Ability to provide tax support for Schwabe's business transition and succession planning practice
  • Knowledge of community property law (Washington)
  • Washington State Bar and Oregon State Bar admission required

  • 7+ years of IP litigation experience
  • Experience in patent litigation-related research and motion drafting, including claim construction and dispositive motion practice
  • Demonstrated aptitude in managing independent projects within a team environment in a fast-paced litigation practice
  • Experience taking depositions and managing fact and expert discovery
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Strong client service skills and ethics
  • Demonstrated ownership of projects and willingness to work hard in a team-oriented setting, but with significant independence
  • USPTO admission and a technical background are a plus but are not required; however, the applicant needs to be able to understand and explain complex technologies
